An insight into the 'real' Mrs. Mortgage

I was originally born in Yorkshire, England, a little while ago. Yorkshire is a nice place, but I always yearned for a warmer climate, and perhaps more opportunity, and so it was that I departed from the Port of Whitby in Yorkshire like so many other Poms.

Whitby is certainly one of the most picturesque ports in England. Its harbour is set in a ravine at the mouth of the River Esk. The town is famous for its ruined Abbey, narrow alleyways and the quaint streets that climb down to the busy quayside, with its harbourside houses and small shops fitted with crafts, curios and antiques.

The churchyard at Whitby is famous for providing the setting which inspired Bram Stoker to write his classic novel - Dracula. Charles Dickens and Lord Tennyson are also known to have enjoyed the hospitality of Whitby's ancient inns.

Yorkshire is also famous for Yorkshire Pudding and the world's best fish and chips. And of course for the hospitality of its people.

The people are really down to earth. They don't have a lot of time for nonsense, but they always have time for a cup of tea, particularly Yorkshire Tea.
